Renny Field & ACES @ The Newsagency

Solo residency @ The Newsagency, Wednesdays through June and July, with special guests. 

ACES, or Ado as I first came to know him, is the musical arm of the creative FORCE that is Adriana Cappelletta. I met Ado a good few years ago now when he was the star / co-creator of one of the best pieces of comic theatre I've ever seen - Connie Chang's Cabaret Roadshow. I even had the pleasure of being a part of it one year at The Great Escape Festival in Sydney, playing bass with my brother Matt on drums. Since then Ado has continued to create, thrive and inspire others to achieve more. He's been to study in Paris, he's performed a season at the Edinburgh Fringe, and he's appeared in productions / films / tv shows / pilots all over the place. Along with Holly Austin, he also started one of the best open mic / muso nights I've ever been a part of - WOOJam - which ran on Monday nights for several years at the Old El Rocco Room in Kings Cross. And all of that is before I've even got to Ado's music, which is the main reason I've asked him to play at the Newsagency! Having watched hundreds of performers the past few years, there's something in Ado's songs that you remember - that intangible element present in all the best songwriters. He has a real gift for melody and story-telling within a song, and his recently released EP is a testament to that. It's people like Ado that make the world go round. Really.

The Newsagency is BYO everything - drinks, food, whatever. There's a pub with a bottle shop across the road, and a few different restaurants etc very close by. Come prepared to settle in and enjoy the show.
