Event Details
The Hunter Valley based Mind Your Mates program was introduced by a partnership of Lifeline Newcastle & Hunter and ResCo Services in 2009 to assist workers in the mining industry identify and deal with mental health issues which may be experienced by co-workers, friends or family.
Participants learn to recognise the signs of depression and suicidal tendencies, how to approach a mate and what to do when their suspicions are confirmed.

Mind Your Mates is conducted in a tool-box talk format and is ideally suited for those who work with people in the mining and resource industries where shift work and travelling long distances to work is commonplace, factors that may impact on well-being.

The August  workshop at the Rutherford Community Centre is sponsored by the Maitland Neighbourhood Centre.
