Leadership in Tough Times- Regional Champion: Margaret Harrison

HBWN members and guests will have the invaluable opportunity to hear from Regional Champion Margaret Harrison, whose inspiring and touching leadership story received a standing ovation from attendees at the Australian Regional Women Leaders Convention in Melbourne last year.

Margaret is a wheat farmer from the NSW town of Mungindi (population 600).   In 2005, having witnessed the demoralising social and economic impact of prolonged drought, Margaret set about lifting the spirits of her community through the Mungindi Music Festival.

Through months of hard work and determination, Margaret was able to bring world-class performers to their remote community giving visitors and locals an experience to remember. Over 300 musicians and a thousand visitors flocked to the town of Mungindi to enjoy the festivals in October 2005 and 2007.
