  • The river is beautiful - being out on it soothes the soul
  • Challenge yourself with the technical aspects
  • It's a sport for life - some people row well into their 80s and 90s
  • Connect with others in your community

Learn to row course

Come alone or twist a buddy's arm!

Sessions for this course are Saturday & Sunday mornings 7.30-9.00am each weekend from 17 January until 15 February. Participants attend all sessions.

The first session of the course is land-based, in which participants are shown the boatshed and surrounds, and introduced to the equipment and boats to be used. A video and a session on the rowing ergometers (ergos) is included.

All remaining sessions are on-water, in a variety of different types of boats and crews. Coaches are provided by the Club. Coxes (where required) may be club members or may be LTR participants on a rotation basis.

Normal rowing attire consists of clothing which is not so tight as to restrict movement, but not so loose as to get caught in moving seats or oars. A close-fitting T-shirt, and shorts that are not too baggy are ideal. Bike shorts are comfortable, with or without the padded seat. Socks are recommended, to prevent blisters. Hats, sunscreen and adequate water are essential. Please ensure you bring a water bottle.

N.B. Participants in our Learn to Row courses must be aged 18 years or older.

Membership form

In addition to purchasing a ticket you need to complete a Learn to Row membership form - available here: Info & Downloads

This LTR course provides club membership and Rowing Queensland registration until 31 March 2015. Naturally, completion of the course is required before you can access equipment as a general club member.
