Geelong Regional Library Corporation is proud to partner with the Melbourne Writers Festival (MWF) to bring Lynda La Plante to speak in Geelong as part of the MWF Regional Tour.
Join City of Greater Geelong's, Arts and Culture Manager, Kaz Paton as she chairs this entertaining and insightful session and learn about Lynda's work and her hugely successful career.
The Queen of Crime, Lynda La Plante is an internationally acclaimed author and TV writer. She fainted at her first post-mortem, chatted to prostitutes in an LA brothel as shadowy punters looked on, and visited a Russian morgue where bodies were strung up naked - all in the name of research.
She is the author of fifteen novels which have all been international bestsellers including Blind Fury, Deadly Intent, The Red Dahlia and Above Suspicion.
La Plante is an honorary member of the British Film Institute and the recipient of the Dennis Potter Writers Award. She was awarded a CBE in the 2008 Queen's Birthday Honours List (for services to Literature, Drama and to Charity) and in 2009 La Plante was inducted into the Crime Thriller Awards Hall of Fame.
La Plante developed her first plotline for the phenomenally successful Widows TV series while working as an actress. She went on to create the highly acclaimed Prime Suspect (starring Helen Mirren) which garnered many awards including six British Academy Awards (BAFTAs) and set a new standard for television drama. La Plante's other television writing credits include The Commander, Above Suspicion, The Governor, Trial and Retribution among many others.
Her latest novel is Blood Line.
