Violinist Robert Zielinski will fill the wonderful acoustics of The New Lyric Theatre with his haunting selection of traditional airs and electrically charged strathpeys, reels, jigs and original compositions on Friday July 3rd. With accompaniment on bouzouki, double bass and vocals from WAAPA graduate Phil Waldron, this promises to be a one of a kind night of spine-chilling acoustic music straight from the shores of Ireland.

Robert has spent 14 years exploring Ireland and its surrounding region and studying under some of the world’s most reputable traditional musicians. He has toured extensively throughout Europe and America and in the year 2000 he won Ireland’s Michael Coleman Traditional Fiddle Player of the Year Award.  A musician who learnt entirely by ear, Robert’s music is filled with a raw emotion and other worldly energy that never fails to hold its audiences captive. Robert has recently played to full houses in the Fly By Night Club, Kulcha, Fairbridge Festival (where he celebrated the release of his new album “Out West” with Donegal fiddle legend Mick Doherty), and Kidogo Arthouse.

Philip Waldron is a well known Perth session musician, WAAPA music graduate and guest musician with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.

Doors open for the concert at 7:30pm, for an 8pm start.
