Ali Maegraith is launching her EP ‘Mistress of the Pig Market’ at the Newsagency. After many years of singing her heart out to her wallpaper, Ali has finally got the show on the road (excuse the pun).
Ali is a proud Marrickville local and writes songs that will speak to you, or at least groove your boots off. She draws inspiration from the suffering and joys of women, motherhood and madness. Sadly, she hasn’t written any songs about pigs as yet.
Ali’s band kicks with strong riff based grooves that will leave you wondering if she is channeling PJ Harvey. She also clicks over into colourful poetic land, ditching the band and proving she is a piano player deep deep down. Influences? All the legends… Joni, Tori, Polly Jean.
