From NSW to Queensland and Western Australia and back to South Australia, Nick and Liesl have covered some ground in the month leading up to their show on Kangaroo Island. The pair performed alongside John Butler Trio, The Cat Empire and Ben Lee at the Caloundra Music Festival at the end of September and with five days to drive across the Nullarbor they reached our Western shores for a string of shows and another music festival there before they will commence the hike back to South Australia.

It’s been a crazy year for this Aussie-Swedish duo. 2011 saw them tour Australia and Europe with their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Feather’ and only days after returning from overseas they wowed crowds at the 2011/2012 Woodford Folk Festival. The European tour, which took them through Germany, Belgium, France and Switzerland, included live performances on French TV and German radio as well as the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg. They are now back in the country for a year of festivals, recording and quite unexpectedly, writing for the theatre stage. After seeing them perform live on the Sunshine Coast, the producers of the play – Catharsis – fell in love with Nick and Liesl’s songs and storytelling and have since moulded a drama around them, fusing not only music and drama but also live painting. The play will be the first stop on Nick and Liesl’s tour schedule and includes a short concert at the reception. Nick and Liesl have ‘a sibling-like capacity for natural harmony’ (Kim Cheshire, Country Update). Stylistically they cover quite a range; from stripped-back and intimate folk to happy-go-lucky pop; to blues and soul. But the voices and the harmonies remain throughout, making their sound instantly recognisable.
