El Orqueston is a 12 piece Afro Cuban powerhouse playing Salsa, Timba and Changüi.

Led by Sydney bassist, Tina Harris, whose credits include being Musical Director for Helpmann award winning show Smoke and Mirrors, this mighty ensemble honours the great Cuban orchestras… that feature the sound of three trombones, violin and tres Cubano, on a bed of percussion, bass and keyboards. Playing an all Cuban repertoire of tunes by Los Van Van, Elito Reve y Su Charangon, Pupy, and Havana De Primera, El Orqueston is sheer joy and energy from beginning to end.

El Orqueston is comprised of a who’s who of Sydney’s top musicians from the latin music scene. The band is fronted by Peruvian Richard Valdez, whose powerful and dynamic tenor voice is complimented by the charismatic Carlos Velazquez, sharing vocal duties and putting out some serious musical energy.
Supported by solid harmonies, mellifluous and punchy trombone lines, fiery timbales, congas and bongo, El Orqueston is for listeners and dancers alike.
