Last Tango in Sydney with Tángalo
Join Tángalo in their farewell to Sydney before they head to study Tango in Buenos Aires. Music full of passion and pain, flirtation and fire, nostalgia and nonsense, the Tango is the music of emotion, of experience and of the people. Join Tángalo as they take you on a journey from the barrios of Buenos Aires to the concert-halls and nightclubs of high-society, with gorgeous dance performances by Belen Tango, showcasing the best old and new Tango music for your delight.
Tángalo will be performing their signature mix of old and new music, blending the emotion of golden-age tango with a contemporary aesthetic. Performing both Argentine tango, and their original compositions, in elegant costume, Tángalo creates a performance that is exquisite for both dancers and listeners.
Formed with a fierce desire to inspire and revitalise Sydney’s tango dance culture, Tángalo is the brainchild of Emily-Rose Šarkova and Owen Salomé. Since their debut performance of July 2011, Tángalo has fast become a favourite on the Australian Tango scene, performing for events such as The National Folk Festival, Made in Argentina Festival, Tango in the Spring and B.A.S.H.
In 2013 Tángalo collaborated with Argentine Singer Fabian Rodriguez in a string of concerts and a tour along with dance performance by acclaimed Tango dancers Pedro Alvarez and Belen Silva. In 2014 Tángalo were the winners of the Infinite Song Contest at the National Folk Festival in Canberra, and are the recipients of a JUMP mentorship from the Australia Council for the Arts.
