James Valentine's Travelling Radio Show comes to Camelot. James has been presenting afternoon radio on 702 ABC Sydney since the last century. He's been an active musician since mid last century. The Travelling Radio Show brings the two together. His Quartet will perform some hard grooving jazz arrangements of great contemporary tunes and then James will do much loved segments from his radio show live in the room. You will get to Rant, present a problem for the Form Guide, talk about your partner on This Is What I Live With - it's great radio and it's even better live.
The James Valentine Quartet is James on saxophone, Gary Daley on keyboards, Peter Kohlhoff on bass and Nic Cecire on drums. They've recorded three albums for ABC Music, all specialising in instrumental arrangements of much loved tunes - including an entire album dedicated to Australian Rock Classics, the Power and the Passion.
The Quartet has a weekly Sydney residency and is a regular feature at music festivals and events around the country.
James has been broadcasting on 702 for the last fifteen years. He also writes regularly for the Australian and the Northshore Times. He is the writer and narrator of Come Dine With Me Australian on Foxtel. During the 1980s he was an integral part of the Australian rock music scene, performing with Jo Camilleri, Kate Ceberano, Steve Cummings, Hoodoo Gurus and even Pseudo Echo and Kids in the Kitchen. He eventually joined the Models, remnants of which became Absent Friends, survivors of which became Wendy Matthew's recording and touring band.
