Returning as always to her acoustic roots, singer-songwriter Penny Flanagan will be doing a special show with her acoustic trio: The Men in Suits. Support will be the wonderfully melodic and polished, Not Good With Horses who have been making a name for themselves in venues all across Sydney, making it an ideal way to spend a relaxed Sunday evening, A great night of classy acoustic pop not to be missed.

You may have heard Penny’s hit single, “Lap It Up” on JJJ way back in 1994. Penny was one-half of the songwriting core of Club Hoy and went on to forge a career of her own after Club Hoy’s untimely demise. She toured extensively as a headliner and as a support to such luminaries as Margaret Urlich, Things of Stone and Wood, Kate Ceberano, Sophie B Hawkins and Wendy Matthews. In 1994, her debut single, “Lap It Up” made it into the JJJ Hottest 100 at a respectable no. 58. Most recently you may have seen her on stage with her sister, comedian Kitty Flanagan. But now after 10 years away from music proper, Penny has been easing back into live shows around the city.

Not Good With Horses are a rollicking country-blues band with a rockabilly edge and a cruisey sweet-voiced girl up front. If you like girl singers and you like your pop acoustic with a little bit of a rootsy bite, come along to this fantastic double bill on Sunday 15th June. You won’t be disappointed.
