Back for his second performance at Foundry616, Melbourne based pianist/composer Joe Chindamo brings his unique style and virtuosity to Sydney's finest jazz club for one night only.

Internationally recognised for his virtuosity, Melbourne-based Joe Chindamo is renowned for his remarkable ability to play and reinvent music from a wide range of sources across genres: everything from standards to modern songwriters like Paul Simon and Burt Bacharach, jazz greats Dave Brubeck and Paul Desmond, film composers and giants of classical music like Mozart and Chopin.

As well as playing in clubs and festivals nationally, Joe has performed in Europe and the USA, where he has worked with many established artists including Ray Brown, Billy Cobham, Mike and Randy Brecker, James Morrison and Graeme Lyall. He has released over 20 albums, and won several Mo, Bell and APRA Awards.

While Joe has performed in formats ranging from solo piano to full orchestra, he is best known for his work in the trio format, of which Joe says: "That’s the essence of the trio, to eschew the safe and orthodox (even though the choice of repertoire might deceptively indicate the opposite) and stretch the music to its limits … but without overstepping the point at which it loses its spirit and power .”

Tonight, Joe plays with Sydney jazz musicians Brendan Clarke (bass) and Andrew Gander (drums)
