Jazzgroove presents ......

8.00pm - Matt Boden Trio (TAS)

Hobartian pianist Matt Boden returns to Jazzgroove for another riotous evening’s jazzing with his brand new trio, featuring Leigh Barker (Melbourne) and Lionel Boccara (Paris). This show will be part of an eastern seaboard tour of Australia, capitalising on the fact that Boccara will be fresh off the back of a tour of Japan with renowned jazz pianist Yutaka Shiina. The three of them will be playing Boden’s originals, and rummaging around in the canon for fresh meat.

9.30pm - Jonathan Zwartz Trio
Ben Hauptmann, Jonathan Zwartz and Hamish Stuart formed a trio in early 2014 called ‘Jants Stengalen’. Playing mostly original music (all three are composers), this group manages to traverse some diverse stylistic terrain, with references to Bill Frisell, John Scofield and New Orleans music.

What is Jazzgroove?

Jazzgroove is a not for profit organisation presenting high-quality original and improvised music from various jazz related cannons. Our focus is on musicians who are in the early stages of forming a national and international career. Jazzgroove's purpose is to nurture upcoming musicians by allowing a platform and performance opportunity to an established audience through our weekly Tuesday double bill events, marketing/ promotion support while also providing a dialogue and mentorship between past Jazzgroove performers and more experienced musicians.
