CLOSE TO FOREVER EP LAUNCH + TANYA SPARKE

It is with great excitement and deep joy that Close to Forever launches their
eponymous debut EP at Sydney’s favourtie boutique venue The Camelot Lounge. Joining in the celebrations will be the most wonderful Tanya Sparke plus special guests.

Close to Forever is an exciting project from seasoned performers Dale Caldwell
(Voices from the Vacant Lot, Martenitsa) and Ben Fink (The Whitlams, Lior, Waiting for Guinness, Christa Hughes, Stiff Gins,
Voices from the Vacant Lot). Sharing their handcrafted interpretations
of songs of love and loss, sorrow and joy, they transport you into a world of lush harmonies,
beautiful silences and timeless melodies.

Armed with just their voices, one guitar and haunting atmospheric effects, they share original works, favourite rarities and uncovered gems. Anything from Tim Buckley and Cat Power to Nina Simone and traditional Armenian laments.

Their eponymous debut EP was recorded in late2013. Spending hours, days, weeks,
even months, working on these songs, they lovingly crafted these arrangements, trying to find their own unique way of presenting these beautiful songs. Recorded mostly "live to tape" with some very nice microphones put through some really nice preamps in a great little underground studio near Nelson Bay.

Tanya Sparke's voice has been described as simultaneously transcendent and gut wrenching, earthy and angelic. She is all this and more. Tanya has led, arranged, composed and conducted numerous choirs and groups around Australia, most notably The Cafe of the Gate of Salvation and the Choral Sea concerts at Sydney Town Hall. In her own right she has recorded two wonderful albums, Darkwood Road and Uncomfortable Little Adjectives, and has already written a yet unrecorded third album of songs. After a lifetime in music Tanya’s skill and class as a singer and composer is a rarity not to be missed.
