#happiness the Cabaret is a new variety show, featuring singers and performers showcasing the music that makes them, well, happy. Come along to hear original music from local musicians, as well as super-talented musical theatre nerds sharing the ballads and show tunes they love best.

The event is hosted by, and features, Veronica Alonza and April Smallwood, in an effort to raise awareness for those living with depression. 50% of the event proceeds will be donated to the Black Dog Institute.

Veronica Alonzo is a musical theatre enthusiast who's been wielding a mic since the tender age of four. Her theatre credits include: Rent (RMS) 'Mimi Marquez' 2009; Jesus Christ Superstar (RMS) 'Soul Girl' 2010; A Night on the West End (CMS) featured soloist 2011; Dinkum Assorted (NIDA) 'Pearl' 2011; Miss Saigon (CMS) Kim 2012, Seussical in 2013 and Brush with a Body (Guild) Rosita Hernandez (2012). In 2011, she completed The Musical Performer course at NIDA. Veronica has vocal training under the direction of Robert Bertrum.

April Smallwood is a singer-songwriter who grew up in Sydney. She sings folk ballads and bop-worthy beats, accompanying herself on the guitar. Her sound is sweet, bare and sung with a half-smile. She's played at various venues around town, including Tipple Bar, Oneness Cafe, Lucky Tsotsi, El Rocco, and Glebe Markets.
