Miriam Leiberman trio playing for refugee artisans

Join Sydney's renaissance woman in the world of ethnic music, Miriam Leiberman, playing with Lara Goodridge (also of FourPlay String Quartet and Baby et Lulu) and Kate Adams, for an evening of original songs and celebration to raise funds for Sydney-based non-profit enterprise WEFTshop and its work to support refugee artisans from Burma.

Miriam is a singer songwriter who combines powerful vocals with her 21-stringed kora (African harp) and acoustic guitar; her collaboration with Lara on violin and Kate on cello creates a unique mix of classical instrumentation with contemporary folk, featured on the critically acclaimed album Birds Of The Moon. Meet the WEFTshop team who will use the funds raised to train and equip more artisans on the Thai-Burma border seeking design, production and small business expertise to earn a living from their unique textile traditions.

The fundraiser will also feature: traditional dancing and singing from Sydney's Karen community; door prizes; and an opportunity to purchase beautiful textiles at the heart of WEFTshop's work.
