Driven by violinist Alana, chased by Kirri (double bass) and Sofia (accordion), Vardos play folk and Romany music learnt from Roma (Gypsy) musicians during their Eastern European travels. Formed late last century, Vardos have played in every state of Australia, toured to Europe, Britain, New Zealand, New Caledonia and the U.S. and appeared in film and television.

Vardos have made many trips through Eastern Europe. International performances include the West Meets East Roma and Traveller Festival (London), Museum of the Bohemian (Amsterdam) Szent Ivan Folk Festival (Hungary), The Famous Spiegeltent (Edinburgh Fringe), bars in Berlin and guinguettes in Provence, France.

Aside from their successful shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Vardos appeared on Scottish television and the BBC News, and were nominated for the BBC Radio3 World Music Awards and have also been Aria award finalists. Their 5^th album, ‘Palazzo Party’, featuring cimbalom (hammered dulcimer) maestro Tim Meyen was released mid 2017, with launches in Brisbane, Canberra and Melbourne.

Performances in Australia include the Falls Festival in Marion Bay, Tasmania, Lorne Victoria and Byron Bay NSW, the National Folk Festival, Harvest Festival, Dark MOFO Tasmania, Junction Arts Festival Launceston Tasmania, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Melbourne Festival, Melbourne Recital Centre, Fairbridge Festival in W.A. and the Alice Desert Festival.

Vardos made a cameo appearance on ‘The Doctor Blake Mysteries’ Series 5 on ABCTV in 2017, and have also appeared on ‘Spicks and Specks’ ABC TV with their extreme folk versions of poprock. They featured in Ruth Cullen's documentary on artist Vali Myers, 'Painted Lady'. Support concerts include ‘The Cat Empire’, ‘Besh o Drom’ and ‘Antal Szalai Gypsy Band’ (both from Hungary), 'Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club' at Hamer Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne and the 'Gipsy Kings' at the Palais, St Kilda.
