Returning to Foundry 616 for a great performance to wind up 2014, the Sydney Jazz Orchestra will be under the spotlight , showcasing the brilliant skills and musicianship of seventeen fabulous jazz and commercial players, drawn from the ranks of Sydney’s finest .

Under the uncompromising direction of saxophonist/composer/arranger Tim Oram, the band will feature its trademark superlative section and ensemble playing, and dazzling individual solos.

A fast moving repertoire draws from the music of world renowned composers and arrangers including Gio Washington-Wright, Weather Report, The Yellowjackets, Don Grolnick , Bob Mintzer, and Kenny Wheeler as well as acclaimed US keyboard player, arranger and producer Michael Abene . Highlighting the talent of Australian writing and arranging, the programme will include original music from Tim Oram and Richard Percival.

This is a gig not to be missed if you're seriously into the big band genre.
