"...an emotional journey spanning hundreds of years, numerous cultures and a sweep of emotions." - Syke on Stage

After a series of sold out concerts, Alin and Melike are back at their favourite club venue, Camelot Lounge, for El Espiritu Del Flamenco – a unique and passionate night of music and rhythms imbued with the fire of Spain and combining a magical fusion of Flamenco music with Mediterranean, Gypsy, Latin, Turkish, Moorish, Sephardic and Oriental sounds. The dynamic combination of Alin Bahram (flamenco guitar) and Melike Bayram (vocals) have been exciting Sydney audiences for a number of years with their highly engaging live performances, taking their audience on a rich musical journey through many diverse cultures.

Alin draws on many years of musical studies in the Middle East and Australia. Not surprisingly he has brought a distinct Arabic flavour to his music. His outstanding guitar artistry is the perfect compliment to Melike's dramatic vocals. Flamenco and oriental music have played a major role in Melike’s musical life. Blessed with a unique singing talent from a very early age she received both vocal and guitar training from several acclaimed teachers.

The concert will also feature special guest artists Byron Mark on percussion, Keyna Wilkins on flute/piano, and acclaimed flamenco dancer Ana Interiano. Byron is a percussionist, pianist and composer based in Sydney with a strong passion for African and Flamenco drumming. He has travelled to both Spain and Africa to study the rhythmic roots of the Cajon and Djembe, and regularly performs on these instruments along with various artists. Keyna Wilkins is a renowned versatile flautist with international classical training (UK, Germany, Sydney Conservatorium). Kenya has branched into flamenco, jazz, live theatre, and free improvisation. She is also a pianist and published composer.

Ana Interiano is emerging as an important figure for the current generation of flamenco dancers in Australia. Her debut performance as a solo artist at the Sydney Opera house occurred in 2009 alongside the Arrebato Ensemble with whom she toured for several years. In 2013 she joined the “Encuentros Espanoles” festival where she collaborated with other artists in exploring the nexus between classical Spanish music and dance and performed for the closing concert at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Most recently, she starred in Opera Australia’s 2011 and 2014 production of Carmen.
