It is always a pleasure to have one of our greatest pianist/composers, Mike Nock, perform at the club. Named Best Australian Jazz Ensemble at the 2015 Bell Awards, the Mike Nock Octet is an all-star band with an extraordinary lineup. Trumpeter Phil Slater and trombonist James Greening, share the stage with outstanding young musicians, guitarist Carl Morgan, altoist Peter Farrar, tenor saxist Karl Laskowski plus Mike's acclaimed trio of bassist Brett Hirst and drummer James Waples. 

This will be a celebratory night of inspiring creative music, showcasing the country's top players in a program of original and exciting jazz.

Awarded the Don Banks Prize in 2014, Mike has been a vital force in Australian Jazz since his first recordings in 1960 with the legendary Three-Out trio. Living in the US from 1961-1985, he is widely known through his extensive catalogue of recordings and compositions under his own name and with many high profile musicians globally.
