Greg Lloyd Group


Greg Lloyd a is an Australian World/Jazz pianist originally from Sydney now based in Europe and NY. Greg has been living abroad now for 15 years performing on and off with his group called the “Greg Lloyd Group (GLG)” and composing for film and television.

The Greg Lloyd Group (GLG) is a dynamic instrumental piano-based group craft original compositions and re-worked Jazz standards ranging from intricate and subtle to driving and rhythmic with melody at the heart of the set.

The music is instrumental World Jazz in piano trio format inspired by the music of Avishai Cohen, Esbjorn Svensson Trio (EST), Pat Metheny and by Greg's time working on the film 'El Gusto' with Damon Albarn (Blur, Gorillaz), an award-winning film about the lost 'Chaabi' music of Northern Africa.

The GLG debut album 'Long Way Home' has received rave reviews and radio play in Ireland/UK including Japan where the group is starting to make waves.

Greg will be playing some of the music from the Greg Lloyd Groups debut CD “Long way Home” available on I tunes and at: www.greglloydmusic.com mixed with familiar Jazz standards on the 19th of August at 616as part of his Australian Tour.


Greg will play most of the gig in a Trio format - Piano/Bass/Drums – with a special appearance from Susan Gai Dowling on vocal for a few tunes.
