Sydney Chamber Choir 2010: Music for your world
Fresh from its recent success in Spain, Sydney
Chamber Choir celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2010 with a sumptuous feast of
exquisite music for the voice.
In September we welcome back Graham Abbott, who conducted the Choir to great acclaim in 2009. This time he returns for a concert of sublime music for choir and brass, which celebrates the splendours of Venice and Vienna. The program includes music by Gabrieli and Monteverdi, as well as the beautiful motets of Anton Bruckner.
And to cap the year off in festive style, we celebrate the Christmas season with one of the all-time choral favourites, Britten's Ceremony of Carols.
Concerts included in the subscription price:
Jubilate Deo
Sunday 26 September 3.00pm, Verbrugghen Hall, Sydney Conservatorium
Explore glorious Renaissance and Romantic repertoire, from the hushed awe of Gabrieli's O magnum mysterium to the exultant joy of Jubilate Deo and the solemn splendour of Bruckner's mighty motets. If you've tasted the rich, full flavours of this music before, you'll be coming straight back for more. And if you're new to this sublime choral sound, you'll wonder why you didn't start sooner!
O Magnum Mysterium
Saturday 11 December 7.30pm, Independent Theatre, North Sydney
With Christmas approaching, December can be hard work, so take a little time out to relax, enjoy some beautiful music, and learn to breathe again!
This program combines 16th-century musical treasures with a beloved 20th-century classic, Britten's Ceremony of Carols.
