Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders impact individuals across their lifespan. Training content will cover the risk of fetal alcohol exposure, the adverse effect on brain structure and a description of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder before considering the application of the neurobehavioral approach (Malbin 2013) which recognises behaviour as symptomatic of the underlying physical brain difference. The logic of this understanding translates to adjusting our expectations of those living with FASD and developing appropriate strategies to support individuals in the home, school, service organisations, community and justice services.
The National Organisation for Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Australia (NOFASD Australia) is an independent not for profit charitable organisation. NOFASD Australia committed to providing support to individuals and families living with FASD, advocating for a better quality of life through improved and co-ordinated service delivery and preventing alcohol exposed pregnancies in Australia.
