Michelle Nicolle Quartet
“Formidable technique and staggering range…” – Rolling Stone
Award-winning arranger, band leader and jazz vocalist Michelle Nicolle is one of Australia’s most celebrated jazz singers. A gifted improviser, Nicolle’s precision in timing and phrasing compliment her courageous inventiveness. Her clear and warm tone and risk taking approach has earned her the Australian entertainment industry’s Mo Award (Jazz Vocalist of the Year) in 2001, 2003 and 2004 as well as a National Jazz Award (1998) and two ARIA nominations. She performs at this year’s festival with her long standing quartet.
