Topic:  “Equal Employment, Discrimination and Harassment.” Ms Ketas was admitted to the Bar in May 2007 and has developed a practice in employment law, corporations law and criminal law (including law for minors). Prior to being called to the Bar Ms Ketas was employed as an Associate to a District Court judge for approximately 10 years. Before working as an Associate Ms Ketas trained as a registered nurse and spent 4 years working in hospitals in Sydney and Saudi Arabia.

Ms Marina Wilson, Solicitor, Professional Standards, The Law Society of New South Wales

Topics:  1. Obligations under the Legal Profession Act 2004 2. What is fair and reasonable - case law 3. What helps to minimise disputes on costs 4. Litigation costs Ms Wilson is solicitor in charge of the Legal Costs Unit which provides education and advice to members of the profession. Prior to joining the Law Society of NSW 12 years ago, Ms Wilson worked with the Commonwealth DPP, and before that she was a Registrar of the Federal Court of Australia.

MCLE/CPD Requirements

Members will recall the requirement is now 10 MCLE/CPD units each year, including at least one unit in each of the following three core areas: Ethics and Professional Responsibility; Practice Management and Business Skills; and Professional Skills.  In addition, in every three-year period practitioners are required to complete a component relating to the following three issues: equal employment opportunity; discrimination and harassment; and occupational health and safety.
