Nerd out over architecture and the history of a bygone era filled with stories of intrigue, affluence and pride. On this walking tour we'll see the remnants of Fitzmaurice streets first “Australian Hotel” (est. 1856), visit a hidden beer cellar from the turn of the century, and we'll walk back in time to the early 1880's through the colonnades of the Old Commercial Bank and post Office Building. As is the Nerd Nite way, we'll finish up with a reminiscent beer at the Riverine Club, a building with rich social and economic history.

The tour is limited to 20 people. First come, first serve!

*No tickets at door, 18+ event, no minors

Our tour guide, Gioia Portolan Gianniotis, is a registered architect and founder of local architectural practice GPG Architecture and Design. She is an advocate for sustainable design, and teaches AutoCAD in her spare time within the Australian VET Sector. Her practice has designed numerous homes, extensions, commercial fitouts and public buildings in the Riverina.

Gioia is passionate about increasing awareness of Architecture within the community and within the younger generation. Through the Australian Institute of Architects, Gioia mentors young architects and regularly visits school groups to talk about Architecture and the built Environment. For Gioia, Architecture is a lifestyle not a profession.
