We May Never Meet Again: The Music of Amy Winehouse
Movement 9 with Elly Poletti
Returning to Sydney after a sold-out first tour in July, WE MAY NEVER MEET AGAIN brings the music of Amy Winehouse back to Foundry 616 in an electrifying show.
Don’t miss Melbourne nine-piece Movement 9 and the phenomenal voice of Elly Poletti as they present a new perspective on the music of Amy Winehouse.
WE MAY NEVER MEET AGAIN pays tribute to Winehouse's lifelong love of jazz through a suite of twisted and reimagined arrangements, transporting her music from the radio to the the smoky clubs where her jazz idols used to play.
Hear the soul-drenched voice of Elly Poletti bring a new life to songs like "Back to Black", "Tears Dry On Their Own", and "In My Bed". Six horns share the stage with her, weaving a backdrop of jazz harmonies and soul hits, comments and countermelodies.
Since their last visit to Sydney, the project has gone from strength to strength, selling out shows at Bennetts Lane Jazz Club and supporting Clare Bowditch and the Black Sorrows for Monash WinterFest.
Captivating and passionate, WE MAY NEVER MEET AGAIN offers a new look at Amy Winehouse's lasting musical legacy.
Don't miss this show as it returns to Sydney for one night only. Book early to avoid disappointment.
With 2015 performances including Melbourne International Jazz Festival and White Night, Movement 9 have won a following with their original music and collaborations, led by saxophonist and composer Joe McEvilly. With a voice that transcends genre, Elly Poletti is a multiple-Theatre Guild Award winning vocalist and performer hailing from South Gippsland, Victoria.

Praise for Movement 9:
“…[Joe McEvilly's] arrangement was a tour de force. He hadn’t just written harmonies for horns, but he’d reconstructed the feel and time sense to twist memories and still present a joyous playtime… An ingenious rethinking.” – Canberra Jazz
"A striking collection" ★★★★ — John McBeath, The Weekend Australian
