The Taimana Ensemble will present a concert of music from the 1930's and 40's in the second concert of their 2016 Concert Series. The contrast of lyricism and rhythmic mechanism in Martinů's Trio for Flute, Cello and Piano, the beauty disturbed by militaristic motifs in Prokofiev's Flute Sonata and the quirky neo-romanticism of Joio's Trio for Flute, Cello and Piano come together with Shostakovich's bold and dramatic Cello Sonata in a substantial and varied programme.
