The Hunger Project are about giving those in need a hand up, not a hand out and through their association with Business Chicks they want to educate and empower women to be the change in their future. 795 million people around the world do not have enough to eat and 60% of the world’s hungry are women. 50% of pregnant women in developing countries lack proper maternal care which results in approximately 300,000 maternal deaths. Every ten seconds a child dies from hunger related diseases and nearly half of all deaths in children under give are attributed to under nutrition. To put this in perspective it means the unnecessary loss of about 3 million young lives each year.

Unlike many Australians, for those living in Malawi, it is not a question of what they will have for dinner, it’s whether they will have dinner at all.
