Join Americana/Roots favourites Jen Mize (Brisbane) and Sam Newton (Sydney) as they combine forces to launch their second respective albums in the intimate and inviting Django Bar.
Jen Mize - ‘Warnings & Wisdom’ comes off the back of her stellar debut album ‘Fear, Pride & a few Stubborn Angels’. A 12-track album made with ARIA, APRA and Golden Guitar winning Producer Shane Nicholson, Jen is openly pretty pleased with the results. ‘There is a ‘no fear’ attitude on the record. A kind of ‘shout-it-from-a-mountain-top’ epic-ness about it… One that, I think, fits both where I am in my life and the songs themselves.’
“Jen Mize is more than a great singer-songwriter… she’s a true artist. From the first time I heard her sing, she gripped my heart with raw honesty and deep soul.”
- John Walker, Music City Roots
Sam Newton - Singer-songwriter Sam has come together with Blue Mountains based producer Chris Gillespie to produce his second album, ‘Violet Road’. Drawing from personal experience, 10 tracks explore family, love, heartbreak, emotional turmoil and disconnection through narrative trope and raw sincerity. Sam is incredibly proud of what he and Chris have achieved, stating ‘this is the most honest thing that I’ve ever released.’
“Sam Newton’s music harkens back to a time when stories were sung around campfires, to a small circle of listeners who paid attention and could see the singer’s emotions written on his face as well as hear them in his voice.”
- Sophie Hamley, Jolene: The Country Music Blog
