Refining the Breath in All Aspects of Yoga - Weekend Immersion  - SOLD OUT

The main emphasis in this Immersion will be on Pranayama and tools for deepening the practice of pranayama. This will include an in-depth inquiry into the ‘Vayus’ as the ancient doorway into the experience of pranayama and meditation, and the Vayus will be approached not only philosophically, but in terms of very practical tools for deepening the experience — and capacity for — the breath.

The Immersion will include a component of asana practice, with the focus on how central elements of asana practice — particularly the bandhas — provide preparation for deeper and more fulfilling pranayama practice. This includes stabilization of the spine and pelvic awareness, as well as a deeper understanding of the relationship between the core abdominals and the diaphragm, as well as the functioning of the three ‘diaphragms’ ( pelvic, thoracic and vocal) in relation to each other through the bandhas.

At the heart of the immersion, we will cover the main forms of pranayama practice, with an eye to their relationship to meditation practice, and also with awareness of which practices in their simplest forms are therapeutically beneficial, and which practices are more challenging and related to meditation, but may be contraindicated for some practitioners, particularly beginners. The Immersion will introduce themes and principles that will also be carried through the 5-Day training in the context of asana practice designed to be therapeutically beneficial.

Cancellation Policy:-

Given the cost of bringing Doug over from overseas. This policy will be strictly adhered to. Cancellation of registration, prior to 1st Sept, will be fully refunded minus Administration fee of $150. Cancellation of registration after 1st Sept is non-refundable but transferable. Transfer fee is $150.
