Every year in Queensland approximately 600 families face the heartbreak of stillbirth or newborn death, and many thousands more experience early pregnancy loss. Sands exists so that bereaved families don't have to navigate this terrible time alone.
In this workshop with artist and facilitator Leanne Carkeet we will be exploring ways to give your head a time out.
No previous art experience is needed, this workshop is for any one in the Sands Community aged 12 and above!
Making art is one of the simplest ways to give yourself a break. Making art allows us to be mindful, in the moment, quiet and rested.
Simple exercises with pattern and colour allow us to move into the quiet places in our brains allowing us to recharge, relax, and unwind. We will explore different ways to create patterns, discuss colour use, and play with a variety of art materials which are readily available and easy to use.
Join Leanne in this workshop to learn how art can be used easily in our lives, in everyday ways to give us some quiet time some space, some rest in our busy and often stressed-filled days.
This event is made possible by the generous support of Suncorp Brighter Futures program.
