Join curator Dr Nathan Woolley for a guided tour of the National Library's new Collections-in-Focus display in the Treasures Gallery, Waving the Red Flag: Chinese Posters 1949-1976, followed by morning tea in the Friends Lounge.

The Library’s collection of Chinese propaganda posters dates to the early days of the People’s Republic following 1949. Bright, colourful, and full of officially sanctioned ideals for the lives of Chinese citizens in this brave new world, these posters feature images of workers, peasants and leaders, promoting agricultural and industrial production as well as a prosperous world led by a communist China. Through them, we catch a glimpse of many notable events and campaigns in China’s history. Open

This tour is restricted to members of the Friends of the National Library of Australia, and a maximum of 20 participants.
