Swing dance crash course: Charleston!

Our Swing Dance crash course will have you swinging out on the dance floor in just a few hours! In this workshop we will be learning 1930s partner charleston. 

This workshop is split into two halves:

12:30-2.00pm Charleston Fundamentals

Perfect for absolute beginners. You don't need a partner or any experience! 

2.15pm-3.45pm Charleston Extras

This class leads on from Charleston Fundamentals and we start to explore hand to hand charleston and tandem charleston. You need to have attended the first workshop, or done some Charleston in our classes before. 

TICKET TYPES

If you are only doing 1 workshop, select either a Workshop 1 or Workshop 2 ticket with your role of choice. If you'd like to do both (you save $10!) select a Both Workshops ticket with your role of choice. 

WHAT IS A FOLLOW? WHAT IS A LEAD? WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE?

There are two roles in swing dancing: follow and lead. Both are equally important, challenging, and fun. We like to describe the roles like this: the follow is driving the car, and the lead is holding the map. The lead will tell the follow “there’s a left turn ahead” and the follow chooses how to execute that turn, or whether to turn the car at all. You can choose whichever role you like. If you still aren’t sure that’s no problem – you can sign up as “undecided” and choose when you get to class. We recommend learning both roles! But do please stick to your chosen role for the duration of the class to avoid confusion.
