Take a trip back in time to the swinging Cotton Club era. Following sell out seasons at Fringe Festival 2015, 2016 and 2017 the local singer is bringing her show to The Black Swan Winery & Restaurant for a Dinner and Show evening.
Get dressed up in flapper dresses, feathers and fedora's and join Cathrine Summers and her 5-piece jazz band for a night of swing. You’ll find yourself compelled to tap along to this up-beat, fun, swingin’ ensemble. This larger than life energetic show mixes up old standards, cool jazz, an abundance of French, Spanish and Italian songs as well as songs featured on the Great Gatsby Soundtrack like a traditional jazz version of Beyoncé’s “Crazy In Love”.
The UK-born vocalist fostered her love of performing right here in Perth, making a name for herself at iconic venues and festivals; The Ellington Jazz Club, Kings Park Festivals, Perth International Jazz Festival, The Paris Cat (Melbourne) as well as residencies at the prestigious UWA Club, On-The-Point, Crown Casino, The Laneway Lounge and many more.
Acclaimed for her charismatic, engaging live performances and rich tone, Cathrine never fails to deliver playful banter intertwined with her shows. With her quintet consisting of Mike Collinson (sax & clarinet), Brodie Stewart (piano), Zac Grafton (double bass) and Pete Evans (drums) Summers transforms the atmosphere into an intimate lively underground Cotton Club vibe, a show not to be missed.
“Not just a cracking vocalist, Summers’ art and craft as host is equally commendable, with something of an earthy Amy Winehouse under all those sequins” Christopher H James – The Music Online
