FREE WEBINAR SERIES FOR PARENTS AND CAREGIVERS OF ADHD CHILDREN AGED 6 TO 16 Commencing 4/11/17

ADHD is not a result of bad parenting or lack of discipline. However, if children are not provided with the tools to manage their condition their lack of attention and impulsive behaviours can impact on their self-esteem and life skills.

Practical help is now available through a series of free online webinars specifically designed to support parents of ADHD school children 6-16 years of age, reduce the negative behaviours that can lead to antisocial and criminal actions in young adulthood.

Funded by WA Police Community Crime Prevention and presented by Learning and Attentional Disorders Society of WA (LADS), the six-week evidence-based program will provide effective and achievable strategies to parents and caregivers. The early intervention online webinars developed and facilitated by health and education professionals, will teach parents and caregivers a range of practical techniques to assist with behaviour management of ADHD children.

Statistics in the justice system are indicating that those living with ADHD are more likely to commit a crime, be involved in a road accident, use drugs and self-harm. Appropriate and timely intervention can greatly assist in managing impulsive and reactionary antisocial behaviours, which can lead to emotional and physical outbursts that have the potential to result in long-term consequences for them and others.

The more proactive parents and caregivers can become, the higher the chance for their child to foster successful relationships and engage in positive and rewarding activities. Not only benefiting their child and immediate family, but the broader community.

Presented by Psychologists Zyron Krupenia and Elena Trethowan, and Parent ADHD Coach Susan Hughes, the six-week program allows parents and caregivers the chance to learn and implement strategies in their own time and space. Both parents/caregivers are encouraged to participate in this limited opportunity.
