German National Day Concert

Tag der Deutschen Einheit

The third of October is the Day of German Unity, celebrated as the German National Day. The significance of this day is clear: A reunited Germany, reunited families, reunited culture. This day is celebrated as a commemoration of the anniversary of German reunification in 1990. Berlin was once again designated as the capital of united Germany. In recognition of this day, Brisbane’s iconic bridges, Story Bridge and Victoria Bridge, will host the colours of the German flag in a display of lights today.

Show us how you celebrate the German Unity Day! Share your favourite photos of the lit-up bridges on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #brisbanegermanweek – your photos will appear under ‘Go Social’ on our website!

Tonight, German car manufacturer Audi will host a German artists inspired classical sit down concert at Audi Centre Brisbane, performed by the Adina String Quartet from the astounding Queensland Symphony Orchestra in cooperation with and supported by the German Australian Community Centre Qld (GACCQ).
