The Understanding Dementia session, presented by Dementia Australia, provides an introduction to dementia, including an overview of different types of dementia, diagnosis, planning ahead and how to support someone living with dementia and further detail about causes of dementia and obtaining a diagnosis. You will gain knowledge in:

• ·types of dementia, signs and symptoms

• ·the experience of living with dementia

• ·available services and where to access support

This session is suitable for members of the general public who are concerned about their memory and dementia or who are worried that someone they know may have dementia.

We will also have a member from the Epworth Centre for Innovation in Mental Health in attendance to provide an overview of novel treatments for people who experience problems with their memory.

Morning tea will be provided.
