The OutStanding Short Story Competition is Australia’s premier creative writing event for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer community of Australia and New Zealand.
We launched the 2017 competition on 18 June at the Stonewall Hotel in Darlinghurst, Sydney. Stories must be submitted by 1st September and the Awards Night will be in early October. To make sure you know all the details of this year’s competition, join our Facebook page.
The competition offers a first prize of $1000 with second, third and three highly commended receiving a combination of cash and literary prizes.
This year for the very first time there is a youth prize of $500 for writers 25 and under.

Our 2017 competition is again supported by Aurora. We thank the Aurora Group for selecting us as a recipient for a second small grant, which will make this year’s competition bigger and better than ever.
