Event Details

MANADi, which means “sit & share together” in his Sisaala dialect, is from Tumu, an African village in the Upper West Region of Ghana. A humble & soulful artist who speaks to audiences through positive, socially motivated & political songs with West African folk, roots reggae & Afro pop flavours, sung in English and language. His punchy horn lines & groovy African beats will certainly make you want to dance, & even though dance has been taken away from us during COVID restrictions - MANADi provides alternatives.

MANADi will be launching the first single from his long-awaited album ‘AYEELA’ (our songs) along with a bunch of new songs at the Wheaty on Friday October 23rd. Though COVID restrictions delayed the launch, MANADi has been busy finalising the release, recorded at the world-famous Mixmaster’s studios & generously assisted through grant funding provided by The Music Development Office SA.

‘Be Happy’ is a song about letting your uncertainties slip away & allowing yourself to feel irie; to be at total peace with yourself, the way you feel when you have no worries. MANADi focusses on the positives & higher powers; his creator.

A series of downloadable singles will be released over the coming months from the album AYEELA with hard copies available on vinyl and CD in the near future. To celebrate the release, MANADi & Gabrielle have put together their first music video with an intent to simply make people feel happy.  Download the single at the Wheaty released on the night, or via manadilopa.com.au or social media platforms.

MANADi will be joined on stage with his wife Gabrielle plus a handful of musicians who played on the album, including Lazaro Numa Pompa (trumpet), Aaron Deanshaw (trombone), Brody Green (drums), Obed Aryee (bass), Mat Morison (vibraphone) & Raymond (keys).
