At the 1966 stone ceremony for the present-day National Library building, Prime Minister Harold Holt said 'We cannot understand the present or plan for the future without the knowledge of the past'.
50 years have passed since moving to its new and permanent home on the shore of Lake Burley Griffin and the Library continues to collect and preserve Australia's history and serve as a collective memory.
Join librarian Sue Chan as she explores the Library's past, present and future, focusing on the building of a collection which aspires to represent us as a nation and people.
The session concludes with an optional Reading Room Tour. Attendees can reserve a place on the tour when registering for this talk (places are limited).
