Classic is a word too often applied to the mediocre. Too easily posted alongside the drab and dreary. It is a phrase too readily conjured for older rock, regardless of its standing.
But It is a dirty word no more.
Long Live Rock and Roll is a show concocted by journeymen of the genre, through decades of blood, sweat and tears on the road. It is more than a tribute to the Gods of rock'n'roll, it is a flashback to a time when the music was simple, but the songs were great.
Through the late 60's and early 70's, a plethora of bands appeared on the scene, not to be recognised as legends for many years to come. Their songs were real, raw, and full of emotion. They paved the way for many others, but more importantly, they infected an entire generation with the need to pick up a guitar and turn it up loud.
With this in mind, Long Live Rock and Roll has created an experience in itself. The guitars have yellowed with age, and the amps are not energy-efficient. There are no glossy covers, and no auto-tune; just 5 musicians, a dark stage, and some legendary songs, performed as they should be.
Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, Toto, The Cult, Chuck Berry and Queen are just a few of the great acts to get reborn in this must-watch show. We'll say no more, and let the music do the talking.
