By the pricking of my thumbs, something wicked this way comes!
The annual Shakespeare double kicks off the AIM Dramatic Arts 2018 season with Something Wicked: two 90-minute adaptations of Shakespeare's Macbeth (directed by Luke Rogers) and The Taming of the Shrew (directed by Peta Downes) performed in repertory by the Stage 4 Bachelor of Performance students.
From the mutinous machinations of the Macbeths to the tumultuous taming of Kate, Something Wicked is a fresh take on two Shakespeare classics, performed by Stage 4 Bachelor of Performance students.
Six performances only, from the 20th – 26th April, Evenings and Matinees.
THE TAMING OF THE SHREW by William Shakespeare
Directed and adapted by Peta Downes Designed by Megan Venhoek Lighting Design by Ben Anshaw Sound Design by Michael Huxley
It's 1966 in a small country town called Padua in the Mid-West of NSW, somewhere west of Bathurst and south of Dubbo, where men and women still live in the past, clinging to traditions and reluctant to change. But a counter-culture is happening in the cities of Australia and it is about to blow into town.
Kate is outspoken while Petruchio is unorthodox. Bianca wants to marry the richest man she can find and Lucentio wants to escape his mother. Two crazy courtships ensue and love is found in the most unlikely way under the most ridiculous of circumstances.
A madcap, controversial and thought-provoking social comedy about whirlwind marriages, blind love, speaking your mind and finding your voice.
Monday 23 April 7pm, Tuesday 24 April 2pm and Thursday 26 April 6pm only
