As the fastest growing chronic health problem in Australia, diabetes affects 4% of the population, or just over 1 million Australians. Chronic kidney disease is also on the rise, affecting 1 in 10 Australians, which is why we need to raise vital funds for KTDRA so they can continue supporting medical research to eliminate kidney disease and diabetes.

KTDRA is proud to support ground-breaking translational medical research led by Professor Toby Coates that is helping to improve the lives of those affected by kidney disease and diabetes. An expert in his field, Prof Coates is changing the lives of many adults and children living with Type 1 diabetes. He was the first in Australia to carry out an islet transplant and he also works closely with the indigenous communities in Alice Springs where indigenous children are born with genetic pancreatic diseases.

Thanks to Prof Coates and his team at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, many lives have been saved and with your support of this fundraiser, many lives will continue to be saved.

Funds raised from this event will enable us to purchase much needed equipment for ongoing treatment relating to pancreas and islet transplants, helping to save and improve lives of those with Type 1 diabetes.

This includes: an inverted microscope used to monitor the pancreas digestion process and for counting of islet numbers; a BioRep, which is an automated islet assessment machine; and a centrifuge, used to collect the islet tissue into a volume small enough for transplant.

We hope you will be able to come along and support this great cause. There will be a lucky door prize and live music.

Proceeds from ticket purchases and live auctions on the night will go to KTDRA for lifesaving research!
