Martin Flanagan is an Australian journalist and author.

He has written 18 books, a play and 2 movie treatments.

Martin was born in Northern Tasmania in 1955 and attended the University of Tasmania, graduating from Law in 1975.

From 1985 to 2017, Martin wrote on sport, politics and culture for the Melbourne “Age” newspaper and

was a well-respected sports journalist.

Martin writing includes stories told through Australian Rules Football, Wartime Australia and examinations of

Australia’s sporting and indigenous culture.

Martin’s work includes biographies ‘Richo’ (2010), ‘The Short Long Book’ (2015) and children’s book ‘Archie's Letter’.

Martin strives to write good news stories. Many of Martin’s stories have been told through sport, 

particularly native sport of our culture, Australian Rules Football.
