Creating your own Compost Workshop

In this experiential 'hands on' 3-hour workshop you will learn how to make compost using the four different methods used here at the TARA Lifestyle and Learning Centre in Taradale, Central Victoria.

Within the beautiful grounds of the permaculture food gardens of TARA we will show your how to make:

  1. Hot Compost: made with freely (or cheaply) available horse manure and straw to create weed free nutritious compost;
  2. Compost bays: make use of your garden clippings and weeds, including how to make compost bins from recycled pallets;
  3. Compost bins : for the food and kitchen scraps;
  4. 'Weed Tea’ / Liquid 'green' Manure: we will share with you our own special recipe from the herbs and weeds from the property, which makes an excellent brew for growing abundant leafy green vegetables.

The workshop will also include a Garden Tour of the Spring Gardens of Tara, including the large permaculture food garden and spring flower display.

Workshop will be facilitated by Jane Mallick and Glenn Polley, the founders of TARA
