PRESENTERS:


Samantha Gulliver & Roger Gimblett – Office of the Legal Services Commissioner (OLSC)
Topic: When a complaint is made

Samantha is Assistant Commissioner (Legal) at OLSC. Samantha has a background in civil litigation, legal costing and legal profession regulation. In her role at OLSC, she manages a team dealing with complaints about lawyers, with an emphasis on complaints raising disciplinary matters.

Roger is the Complaints Manager at OLSC. Roger was previously an Investigating Solicitor with the Professional Standards department of the NSW Law Society. In his role at OLSC, he leads a team handling complaints about lawyers, with an emphasis on complaints relating to consumer matters and legal costs.

Malcolm Heath – Lawcover
Topic: Interim and interlocutory applications

Malcolm was appointed Legal Risk Manager in 2012. In this role, he conducts practice management risk reviews of law practices involving onsite visits and interviews with practice principals, employed solicitors and senior staff.

Graham Mullane
Topic: Stories from the trenches

Graham was admitted to practice in 1971 and practiced, ultimately as a partner at Mullane & Lindsay, until 1986. After that Graham was appointed as a Judge of the Family Court of Australia. Upon retiring from the bench in 2008 Graham has been a Conjoint Professor of Law at University of Newcastle, acting District Court Judge and a Principal Member of the NSW Civil & Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
