Domestic and family violence has a profound impact on our community in terms of the effect on the lives of victims and their families, the quality of life in these families, the disruption to the workplace where victims are employed, the inter-generational impact as damaging behaviours are handed on through inappropriate role modelling and the cost of social, health, policing and judicial support of victims and prosecution of perpetrators.

Domestic and family violence is preventable. All it takes is the community working together with a noble ideal, strong value sets and a common language to change the culture that currently permits this violence. All layers of Government have acknowledged the issue and are investing in the solution. But an effective remedy will not happen until all community members work towards the prevention of domestic and family violence.

Toowoomba Together promotes that safe, respectful relationships is the standard that will remove this cultural cancer. We have created various platforms for community members to join this movement. The conference will profile these platforms covering the education sector, the business sector, the faith sector and the sporting sector. Attending this Summit will be the most important investment you will ever make towards making a safer family environment for your families, neighbours, work mates and team mates.
