At this time it’s so very easy to become stressed and let your imagination run away with you. The problem is that when you do that, stress chemicals are released into your blood stream. Normally, that stress response (fight or flight) is designed for action to get you out of harm’s way, urgently! But there’s nothing we can really do in this situation and so the stress response stays switched on and the chemicals it releases weaken your immune system.
Right now, you need your immune system to be as strong as it can be. This talk will help you understand why handling stress is so important for your health and will provide some simple methods to help you do that
Presenter Linda Black has a Psychology Degree, a Diploma in Applied Clinical Hypnotherapy, a Certificate in Psychotherapy (Human Givens) (which specifically offers a fresh approach to mild to moderate depression) and has undertaken training in several other therapeutic methods. She has been in practice as a psychotherapist since 2001
She was formerly a member of the Victorian Policy Advisory Group for National Seniors Australia and since then has been researching more positive perspectives about ageing. Linda is determined to promote them to people anxious about getting older and to highlight and refute society's ageist perceptions and commentaries
Linda still works part-time as a psychotherapist and is also a regular public speaker, talking about positive ageing and emotional wellbein
